These bowls are my contemporary take on aging and patination. Unlike the rest of my work, where I have total control, the enamelling process I use means I cannot predict the end result, each bowl is unique with a natural feel to it, this is what really appeals to me.
I was lucky enough to attend a masterclass with Jessica Turrell. Since then I have developed my skills further and created this range of bowls. The copper bowls themselves are created using a traditional method of spinning.
Each one is unique, due to the nature of the process no two will be identical.
Coming in a variety of sizes and colours these can be used as an ornament or as a functional item. Useful for storing small items or using with dry foods, these can be washed in warm soapy water. The smaller sizes make perfect salt and pepper pinch pots which can be accompanied by a SEED silver spoon should you wish.
During the enameling process the copper oxidises (blackens) and while the enamel will not change, the black will gradually lessen over time, returning to its original copper colour.
A selection of these bowls are available in the online shop. If you do not see a size or style you would like, please feel free to contact me.
