/// THE WATER TOWER WORKS ///

I realised (after a little nudge from my MA professor) that I have not shared any information about the project of a new body of work I am undertaking.

As we know I am heavily inspired by 20th century industrial Brutalism and vey much by water towers. Over the last however long I’ve been gathering photos of the water towers I have seen, either by happy accident or by a planned visit, and I’m collating these into a little reference archive.

My plan is (and this part will happen when I am able to devote the time necessary to do such in a thorough way) to use these images to create drawings. Not a few, but hundreds, to really investigate the forms and their relation to each other.

Then, once I have exhausted this area (because I know only then will I know exactly which direction my designs will take) I will will move on to the design development stage for an ambitious collection of work.

I am currently in the midst of a funding application, which will give me the support I need for training in areas I need help in (I’ll leave those in the application for now) to complete this project, and for future work too.

I feel like I’ve found my creative voice these that few years but I’m at a crossroads and need help to increase my skill set to include new techniques and processes which will help to inform, and create my future designs up to a high standard.

So anyway, that’s where I’m at. Enjoy one of my favourite water towers i stop and admire every time I drive that way down the A17. She’s a stunner.
