Skill sharing at the Smiddy

There are a few of us residents here at the Smiddy at the moment, we all have our own specialities so we’ve been so ending time teaching each other new techniques.

I taught the lovely Mason and Kumiko how to raise. A technique where you take a flat sheet of metal and literally raise it up into your desired 3D form, using precise hammer hits on different shaped steel stakes.

Kumiko decided to make her vessel into a very curvy shape which sits great in the hand and went one step further by enamelling it inside with colours representative of the waves on the Banff coast.
