Polishing Masterclass with “The Guru” Stephen M Goldsmith

While I’m up here in Banff I am allowed to attend any workshops they have on, so I jumped at the chance of joining the weekend masterclass in polishing with Stephen.

I knew how to polish, sort of, enough to get by with jewellery but I could never get a high standard of finish on my silverware pieces. And thanks to the masterclass I can now - there aren’t two polishing stages there are actually 4, with the first stage being the all important stage (I used to do 2 and 3!).

It was a fun weekend and I got to see Karen Westland and Kathryn Hinton, both silversmiths whose work I admire immensely.

Finally I managed to shine my hand forged spoon up to the shine it always deserved - now to go and make a list of all the polishing mops and compounds I need to buy in order to keep up this good work.
