Recycled Silver Kite Pin
This pin is the lovely result of experimenting with pattern impressions on silver. I love the combination of horizontal lines with the small parallelograms which remind me of kites aloft in the sky.
Shown in the photos along side the moon pin, both on a lapel and on a bag for reference in-situ. They are very versatile to wear and look wonderful when grouped with other pins, or make an effortless statement on their own.
The pin is made from hand-textured, recycled silver so no two pieces will be the same. The silver used is from the bowl parts of the solid silver spoons used for other items in my Revive series, so could date anywhere from 1891 through to the 1970s, although most pieces are from the early 20th century.
The pin itself measures approx 12mm across, and features a steel pin and safety back which has a push/pull release mechanism, making it nice and secure so won’t come loose and doesn’t have any sharp points to catch on your clothes.
Silver is such a lovely material to wear. It reacts to external temperatures so warms wonderfully against your skin, making it very comfortable to wear. I personally test all of my designs to ensure they are up to scratch. Being a solo maker I can have full quality control and it is really important to me that my designs will last as long as the silver does - which is forever.
All of my creations are handmade by me in my little studio in Norfolk and come packaged in a recyclable Seed Silversmith gift box. I enjoy the integrity of the craft so don’t mass produce my designs; I keep them to fairly small numbers so you know your Suzanne Seed Silversmith jewellery is exclusive.
