/// WHO DO I MAKE FOR? ///

Predominately myself. I strongly believe that it’s important you create what’s inside you, what you feel compelled to make rather than anything you feel you should make. We are communicating through our craft so to tailor that to what you think might sell is suffocating the very essence of why you want to make. I also believe you can see this in people's work; pieces made by those genuinely in love with what they do and the thing they are making has integrity. They’ve been true to themselves and that shines through piece.

So, I make things I love and hope that others will love them too. Yes that is probably a terrible business plan but that is the difference between crafts people and commercial companies. Obviously we need to earn a living/profit but if it was purely about maximising profits there are much easier ways to make money! We please our hearts and hope our bank balance follows.

My dream customer is somebody who appreciates well made, timeless designs. Jewellery which can be worn all day every day, whether dressed up or down. Somebody who likes a comfortable, subtle and stylish piece of jewellery. I’ve recently had a few really interesting commissions and nothing beats that feeling of a client coming with an idea asking you to run with it and make it your own. I always feel anxious when I’ve sent my initial design sketches, it’s a vulnerable state putting your soul on the line then waiting to see if they love it as much as you do. One of my recent commissions is on a scale I haven’t worked in before so I am out of my comfort zone and having to push myself hard - and that’s great because I was hoping for a challenge and that is exactly what landed on my lap.

For my non-jewellery items, people who enjoy well designed pieces to look at, use and hold. People who don’t “save things for best” but instead want every experience to bring them happiness. To enjoy their home, knowing whatever they use will bring a smile and contentment.

In short - good people who value well made pieces which are a joy to look at, use, hold and wear, in a timeless aesthetic and made in a material which will stand the test of time, made from stardust.
